Description

As more parents turn to flexible, non-traditional work, the child support program must evolve to keep pace. This session explores the rapidly expanding gig economy — from rideshare drivers to freelance creatives — and its impact on income withholding, employer engagement, and program enforcement.

We’ll explore:

  • What is gig work, and how does it differ from traditional employment?
  • Disruptions to wage withholding and child support enforcement introduced by gig work
  • Can child support agencies issue income withholding orders to gig platforms?
  • Challenges and opportunities in engaging app-based employers and platforms
  • Educational needs for key stakeholders: gig workers, child support agencies, and platform companies

Come ready to reimagine engagement, compliance, and innovation in a workforce that’s constantly on the move. Whether you’re in policy, enforcement, or program operations, this session offers fresh strategies and practical tools to serve parents working outside the 9-to-5.
