The Adventure Continues: Georgia's Mobile App Increases Options for Customers

In its 2021 MicroLearning “Choose Your Own Adventure – Customer Service, ” WICSEC brought together a panel to talk about unique and innovative ways to serve customers. In this audience-selected follow-up session, Georgia will share its experience developing its award-winning child support mobile app. Dana Jones, Manager for the Business Resolution Team, and Jerry Baker, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Aging Services and Child Support Services Technologies, will lead a discussion about all things app including: determining the WHY, making a business case, integrating with other systems, and maintaining the app.
Jerry Baker is the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Aging Services and Child Support Services Technologies with the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Information Technologies (OIT). Jerry’s team supports Child Support with applications management, IT procurement, network, and telecommunications services. Jerry’s team's overarching goal is to plan, develop, implement, and maintain the technology infrastructure to support the strategic goals of the department. Jerry initially started with OIT in 2010 as a project manager and has implemented numerous projects which include the first data warehouse for Georgia’s Child Support and the first nationally fully functional Child Support mobile application. Jerry’s previous experience includes development and management leadership with a major banking company and director with a national logistic company. Jerry earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics and Computer and Information Science.
|Dana Jones is the Manager for the Business Resolution Team with the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Child Support Services (DCSS). Dana’s team serves as the main point of contact for all child support systems for the division and external partners, including vendors, the federal Office of Child Support Enforcement, the DHS Office of Information Technology and other DCSS business partners. Dana’s team ensures that system projects meet or exceed business needs and user expectations and collaborates with DCSS leadership to develop action plans and recommendations for future system enhancements. Dana has served in a variety of roles within DCSS since 2008 to include Legal Secretary, Enforcement and Review/Modification Agents, Region Policy Specialist, and Manager for Strategic Performance Planning. Dana earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Ashford University.|
